Steal a JV-1080 layering trick for Serum 2

The Roland JV-1080 layered real samples with a static wavetable to get that glossy 90s sheen. Someone just ported the idea into Serum 2, and the result is a patch design move worth stealing for your next track.

◆ start here

▶ JV-1080 Layering Trick Rebuilt in Serum 2

Load a pan flute sample, alt-drag to create a wavetable copy, pick an FFT size and hold a static position — that's the JV-1080's multi-layer sound. A little unison detune, a vintage hall reverb, and a ping-pong echo at dotted eighth for swing.

▶ The 6.2-Bar Uplifter Trick in Dubfire's Grindhouse

Bend range at 6 semitones, sub oscillator thickening the lead instead of the bass, tube distortion for warmth, and an envelope release that lets the tail hang. All in Serum.

▶ 303 Acid Bass Patch and Performance Setup in ANA 2

ANA 2's EMS VCS 3 filter type and velocity-to-volume accent get close to the silver box. Macros for cutoff and resonance let you ride the filter live while the sequencer runs.
