DIVA pads that move themselves through breakdowns

The pad you need for a breakdown is just DIVA, a slow attack on the filter and amp envelopes, and a pan LFO locked to the grid. The movement comes from the mod wheel opening the plate and delay, not from stacking extra reverb plugins.

▶ A DIVA pad that moves itself through a breakdown

The pad swells instead of hitting: slow the filter and amp envelopes, turn one oscillator into a detuned multi-saw, and sync the pan LFO to BPM. The mod wheel opens the plate and the delay, so the movement is a performance, not an automation lane.

Solid-state and EQP-style EQ, with a compensated drive stage(free)

For a Pultec-style flavor that doesn't demand iLok, NoiseAsh's Heater V2 is free right now via Audio Plugin Deals. Type I is solid-state, Type II leans on an EQP1A-style circuit, and the drive mode trims output gain so a level jump isn't the thing you're hearing. One license covers three computers.

An internal multi-track timeline inside a VST3

If Live Lite's track ceiling is the problem, DAWception opens a free internal timeline that hosts VST3s on its own tracks. Every nested plugin gets a dry/wet slider, and automation reaches parameters through 128 relays. It's early: no MIDI, no sidechain, and macOS Gatekeeper needs a quarantine flag removed.

Oliver Torr's Agitator rides tempo from audio; GLAZMO slices YouTube sludge into pads

Live's own Envelope Follower can't touch project tempo. Agitator can, with slew smoothing and min/max bounds to keep the movement musical. GLAZMO_DREAM_PORT turns generated phrases into YouTube queries, slices the returned audio into pads, and an Encrypt button flips them glitchier; it's macOS-only VST3, €3.

Background removal and depth maps that never leave the VJ's machine

No cloud, no depth camera: Resolume 7.28's Human Segmentation and Depth Estimation run locally, with temporal filtering aimed at the flicker that usually wrecks live depth. Existing 7.x owners likely get it free under the previous point-release pattern, but that's inference, not an official promise.

Glossary
haas effect — Copy a mono track, delay one copy a few milliseconds (short enough you don't hear it as an echo), and pan one left, one right — your brain fuses them into one sound that suddenly sits wide. Stock-plugin version: duplicate the clip and nudge it a hair, or Ableton's Delay at 0% feedback, 100% wet on one side. Why it matters: width without chorus warble — the sound gets big but stays dead-stable, which is why house leads and hats sit like that. Flip to mono before you commit; that short delay comb-filters when summed, so keep the low end centered. — seen in Beginner's guide to stereo: panning and haas effect
