Tango was started in 2000 by DJ and producer Tony Hewitt. It is based in San Francisco, United States. Its first release came around the time of the West Coast sounds explosion. The label's sound shifted from deep tribal to a deep funky house style. Early releases featured members of the 6400 Crew, Onionz, Joeski, Hipp-e, Halo, and Tony Hewitt.
