Ditch swing, layer a breakbeat.

Program a 909 kick on every quarter note, layer a tambourine-clap hybrid on beats 2 and 4. Add a straight 16th-note closed hat pattern with zero swing. Underneath, layer a classic breakbeat loop (high-pass filtered to remove the low end) and sidechain it to the kick. The straight hats drive, the breakbeat adds rolling syncopation.
