tonight's move · 2026-10-01

Your static bassline gets gently evolving, semi-random filter sweeps that break repetition without automation.

Stray-LFO Filter Movement for Static Basslines

a specific plugin

◢ the move

6 steps

Load Live's LFO modulator from the Modulators browser onto your bass track.
Click Map, then click the synth's filter cutoff knob.
Set the LFO to Mod mode, range ± (plus/minus).
Choose Stray waveform.
Set Amount to 50%.
Adjust Rate slow enough that the movement feels like gradual drift.

stock path

LFO modulator is stock in Live 12 Suite and Standard (Modulators pack).

why it works

Stray smoothly randomises the modulation, mimicking the organic drift of a human turning a knob, so a repeating loop never sounds identical twice.
